The Playboy of the Western World 1975 Print

The first performance of The Playboy in 1907 made the Abbey Theatre Dublin and the playwright internationally famous. W B Yeats described the play as "a masterpiece.. the supreme work of our dialect theatre". The author described it as an "extravagant comedy".
