Harpagon is in love. Maybe with his son's fiancee, but mainly with that reassuring, powerful, irresistible creature, money. In the Miser Moliere turns his wickedly disruptive eye on a desperate, obsessed old man, jealously harbouring his pot of gold and unwittingly caught up in a frantic tangle of secret passions.
