Coriolanus 1984 Print

When Coriolanus returns to Rome a hero, he is offered the position of consul, but must win the votes of the people - a task he reluctantly undertakes. Upon speaking out against the very idea of popular rule, however, he is declared a traitor and driven into exile, where he seeks revenge against Rome. Ian McKellen plays the name part in Shakespeare's most political drama.
