J B Priestley turns back the clock to 1912 to a world never to be the same again. The play evokes the days when the telephone and gramophone were novelties and the British Empire seemed invulnerable. At Eden End the inhabitants are aware that their hopes and ambitions are unlikely to be fulfilled.
